The Workplace Inclusion Barometer is Aotearoa’s first independent, recurring measure of trust, belonging and inclusion in our workplaces. It provides a nationwide view of how people experience inclusion, not just what organisations say they are doing.
Why we created it
As workplaces evolve, there is a growing need for credible, long-term insight into how people from different communities truly feel at work. This refreshed research tool focuses on perceptions of inclusion, applies a consistent methodology over time, and brings stronger intersectional depth. Women serve as the anchor demographic to ensure diverse experiences are visible and comparable.
The barometer reflects Te Uru Tāngata’s shift from measuring diversity as representation to measuring inclusion as lived experience. This offers a more powerful indicator of culture, wellbeing and long-term social and economic outcomes.
