Policy and influence

Person signing document

We provide principled, evidence-informed responses to legislation, regulatory changes, and government initiatives that affect workplace inclusion. Our submissions are grounded in lived experience, evidence, and Te Tiriti commitments, aiming to advance equity and protect dignity across all workplaces in Aotearoa.

Recent submissions:

  • Public Service Amendment Bill
  • Employment Relations Amendment Bill
  • Equal Pay Amendment Act
  • Employment (Pay Transparency and Remuneration Disclosure) Amendment Bill
  • Regulatory Standards Bill
  • Treaty Principles Bill

We also use our platform to amplify bold ideas that drive systemic inclusion in Aotearoa’s workplaces. Whether we’re leading the charge or lending our voice, we stand behind campaigns that demand transparency, accountability, and equity at scale.

Recent campaigns:

  • mindthegap
We were proud to support the mindthegap campaign for mandatory pay gap reporting - a vital step toward closing Aotearoa’s gender and ethnic pay gaps.

Help shape our mahi

Our advocacy and campaigns are powered by community insight and sector expertise. Through two Special Interest Groups, we explore what’s needed next and co-design high-impact responses.

Advocacy and Evidence Special Interest Group

This group grows our collective voice for inclusion - grounded in data, shaped by lived experience, and equipped to influence policy, regulation, and public discourse in Aotearoa.

We work together to:

  • Develop shared positions on the big issues affecting inclusion and cohesion
  • Back our advocacy with measurement tools, research, and case studies
  • Promote cross-sector consistency in how we measure inclusion and progress

Public Influence and Communications Special Interest Group

Inclusion doesn’t thrive in silence. This group is for storytellers, strategists, campaigners, and communications professionals who want to shape the public conversation.

We aim to:

  • Lead campaigns and messaging that reframe inclusion as a driver of success and fairness
  • Centre real stories and real people in our narrative work
  • Build visible, future-focused narratives that help inclusion become the norm in Kiwi workplaces

Public narratives can build bridges or barriers. This group ensures that inclusion is part of the national conversation. We focus on the language, framing, and storytelling that shape how diversity, equity, and inclusion are understood across Aotearoa.

Together, we:

  • Lead campaigns and messaging that position inclusion as a driver of fairness, trust, and success
  • Centre real people and lived experiences in our narrative work
  • Build visible, future-focused stories that make inclusion the workplace norm
