Bias doesn’t just live in people’s minds – it can be built into the very systems that shape our workplaces.
That’s why Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion has developed a new Bias Audit tool to help organisations uncover and address bias wherever it hides.
Organisational bias occurs when the systems, policies, structures or cultures within an organisation consistently advantage some groups and disadvantage others.
Professional Services Manager Déjealous Palota-Kopa says the Bias Audit is a flexible, modular diagnostic tool designed for Aotearoa’s unique context. It blends cultural insight with evidence-based rigour across five audit modules, each focusing on a distinct layer of bias.
“Together, these five modules offer a comprehensive map of where and how exclusion may be showing up,” Déjealous says.
Learn more about the new tool by signing up for our next free Inclusion Essentials webinar on Wednesday, 12 November.
Organisations using the Bias Audit can commission the entire suite of modules or select those most relevant to their workplace.
The topics covered are cognitive bias, AI and algorithmic bias, structural and systemic bias, cultural and social bias, and customer and market bias.
“The Bias Audit provides an opportunity to understand the root causes of recurring inclusion challenges in your organisation,” Déjealous says.
“It will also strengthen your licence to operate with diverse staff and communities, and future-proof your processes for ethical and fair AI integration.”
Register now to join us on Wednesday, 12 November – and don’t forget to mark your calendar, as this session will not be recorded.
