Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion is the national body for workplace diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Previously known as Diversity Works New Zealand, we have recently undergone an organisational reset following the conclusion of our long-standing public–private partnership.
While our kaupapa remains firmly focused on advancing workplace inclusion, this transition has allowed us to streamline our structure and move forward with renewed clarity and purpose.
We are now seeking three visionary leaders to join our Board of deeply committed Trustees as we enter this exciting new chapter.
Who we are
Grounded in the belief that inclusive workplaces contribute to stronger societies, we guide organisations to embed practices that enable all individuals to thrive.
As an organisation we are evolving to align more closely with the changes and direction signalled in in the broader community and globally. With this change we seek additional Trustees who can bring a range of expertise to help the organisation grow and lead through a period of transformational change that includes the use of information technology as a key enabler.
This is a voluntary role. We hold four meetings each year and attendance at other events such as our annual conference and awards event will be expected.
We invite expressions of interest from experienced governance professionals who can demonstrate a combination of the following skills and experiences:
Capabilities Required:
- Deep understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Demonstrated governance experience in purpose-driven organisations
- Expertise in strategy development and strategic thinking
- Knowledge of legal and compliance frameworks
- Strong financial acumen and/or experience in financial oversight
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and making a difference
- Risk-savvy decision-making and risk management
- Effective stakeholder engagement, especially across diverse communities and government entities
- Insight into technology trends, including cybersecurity and digital transformation
Who You Are
You are a values-led leader with a bold vision for inclusive workplaces in Aotearoa. Whether grounded in lived experience, professional expertise or community leadership, your voice will help shape the strategic direction of Te Uru Tāngata during a pivotal time of growth and impact.
We particularly welcome applications from individuals whose voices are under-represented in diversity, equity and inclusion leadership - for instance, we’re keen to see more men, as well as people from a wide range of cultural, identity and disability backgrounds.
Prior board experience is valued.
How to Apply
Expressions of interest close on Friday, 8 August 2025.
To apply, please send your CV and cover letter outlining why you would be an ideal candidate to Shuana Feeney: recruitment@workplaceinclusion.org.nz
