By engaging with Māori wellbeing models, this workshop provides a space for workplace reflection and the opportunity to enhance organisational wellbeing practices, fostering a healthier and more supportive work environment.
Part of the Hauora Ako series, which looks at wellbeing through a te ao Māori lens, it offers a unique and supportive space to:
- Assess and reflect on current workplace wellbeing offerings.
- Explore te ao Māori wellbeing models, such as Te Whare Tapa Whā, to enhance and strengthen workplace wellbeing.
- Understand the role of organisational feedback in shaping meaningful, inclusive wellbeing initiatives that are inclusive of a tātou tātou (you, me, us, we, everybody) view.
- Recognise the importance of resourcing wellbeing and embedding hauora (wellness) into daily workplace tikanga (practices).
It is presented in partnership with a subject matter expert and will be facilitated by Tuihana Ohia – read more about Tuihana here.

Learning objectives and outcomes:
- Māori wellbeing models and modalities. Te Whare Tapa Whā: Exploring wellbeing through emotions (whatumanawa), spirituality (wairua), mind (hinengaro), body (tinana), family (whānau), and land/place (whenua).
- The value of employee voices: How kaimahi (employees) can inform, curate, and lead wellbeing initiatives.
- Beyond traditional wellbeing approaches: Exploring holistic and culturally informed practices that extend beyond standard workplace wellbeing strategies.
- Ongoing awareness and reflection on organisational wellbeing.
- Stronger connection between employees and workplace wellbeing initiatives.
- Practical strategies to embed te ao Māori wellbeing practices into daily organisational culture
Audience
This workshop is designed for leaders and those championing wellbeing within their organisations who are looking to explore, incorporate, and lead from a te ao Māori lens.
