Accelerated accreditation deadline looming

Accelerated accreditation deadline looming

Applications for the Workplace Inclusion Professional Accreditation accelerated programme close in just six weeks on 30 September.

We have more than 70 accredited practitioners and professionals in this programme, all of whom benefit from having access to a community of peer support and formal recognition of their knowledge, skills, and experience.

“The accelerated pathway is designed to fast-track the people we know are already experts in this kaupapa and build a network to support the next cohort of less experienced practitioners who are committed to advancing inclusion mahi in organisations across the motu,” says Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion Professional Services Manager Déjealous Palota-Kopa.

If you apply for accreditation before 30 September, you will be eligible to attend one of four group accreditation hui before the end of the year – our team will be in Auckland next month, Christchurch in October and Wellington in November. A final Auckland hui will be held at the beginning of December.

“We have extended the deadline for accelerated accreditation once, but this is your last chance,” Déjealous says.

The accelerated accreditation process is a straightforward, points-based system. Applicants can meet the requirements by accumulating points based on their previous relevant experience, or other qualifications, certifications, training and accomplishments in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

Candidates are required to achieve a minimum of 50 points to qualify for accreditation at the DEI Practitioner level, and a minimum of 100 points to qualify for accreditation at the DEI Professional level.

Application submissions can be made by completing the online application form on the Te Uru Tāngata Centre for Workplace Inclusion website by 30 September 2025. The competency framework is also available to download on the website

There is no application fee, and the cost to attend the full day accreditation workshop has been kept very affordable at $425 excluding GST.

From 2026, candidates must not only meet the education and experience requirements, but also proceed through an extended assessment programme, consisting of portfolio submission, practical days and interviews. Application costs will increase next year.

“This accreditation programme gives workplaces the security of knowing that this important mahi is being undertaken by professionals recognised in this field who have access to best practice and peer support.” Déjealous says.

“By applying for accelerated accreditation, you are joining a foundation rōpū united by shared standards and purpose, and raising the profile of our profession and the important work we do.”
